David approaches everything in life with as much energy, enthusiasm, and relentlessness as possible. As a former national team athlete, coach, and world champion, he loves competing at the highest level. Having graduated the Udacity Self-Driving Car Nanodegree, David couldn't be more excited about the autonomous vehicle industry. The last time he was this fascinated by a challenge I was competing for Canada at the world championships.

Brian White

Software/Hardware Systems Lead

Brian's experience in power electronics and hardware/software integration allowed him to join AVO and immediately make a huge impact. Brian's research and work experience in electrical engineering gives our team a competitive edge when it comes time to put AVO's products in the users hands. He is integrating machine learning into AVO's products to ensure the data we collect is as powerful as the technology we deliver. Brian unplugs by strapping on hiking boots and hitting the trail.

Julian True

Computer Vision / AI Architect

Julian comes from a background of Platform Architecture where he developed the experience of interfacing low level hardware systems to high level software. Having developed a fully autonomous Drone from the ground up as his B. Eng final year design project and working as a researcher in the Deep Learning field, he aims to bring his expertise in Computer Vision and Machine Learning to the team as well as his capability of working with specialized Machine Learning hardware. After hours he enjoys brewing beer (particularly Belgian and German styles) and knows his way around Toronto's best bars to try interesting beer.

Scott Kyle

Path Planning & Control Lead

Queen's University

Scott is currently finishing his Masters of Applied Science, Mathematics and Engineering at Queen's. His research and knowledge on control systems, autonomous vehicle guidance & navigation, and trajectory optimization is critical to AVO's differentiating factors. Scott's passions are mathematics and rugby. As a former Queen's varsity athlete and elite rugby coach he thrives in the most competitive landscapes. 

Ben Horan

VP Business Development

Ben's management experience in telecommunications brings a wide range of key skills to AVO. He successfully managed a multi-million dollar capital budget as well as a team of project managers. He won a coveted award in execution excellence for improving system performance by 70%. Ben has successfully launched, owned, and operated profitable businesses throughout his life and is clearly an elite leader. He is an exceptional golfer & skier and loves the outdoors.
